Adrian Rolls Out and Beats Express

Despite arriving late to Tracy, the Adrian Athletics rolled out of the car with their hitting shoes on and pounded out 13 hits to beat the Tracy Express 9-4 in a Gopher League game on Sunday afternoon in Tracy.

The game was at the front end of a double header for the Express on Sunday afternoon at the Tracy High School Baseball Field.

Adrian scored three two out runs in the first inning taking advantage of a couple of walks, and three timely hits to take the early lead.  And the second was similar to the first, after getting a quick out, Adrian got a one out single, then loaded the bases with two walks, and then took advantage on a big two run single from Jeff Gacke to push the lead to 5-0.

Luke Walling started for the Express, he was tagged with the loss in the game, while Casey Polzine and Tylan Gylling threw the final three innings of relief.

Down 7-0 in the fifth, Tracy would battle back, Dane Jensen led off the inning swith a double, and after Jason Minett and Troy Kepler walked, Brady Webb and Jason MacKinnon followed with back-to-back singles to score four runs, and cut the deficit to three.  The bad news for the Express was that MacKinnon had hit the ball to the right field wall, but had to retreat to first with a left knee injury, he did not return on Sunday, and his status is uncertain.

 
But Adrian would answer back for two more in the seventh inning to push the game out of reach.

Other highlights for the Express, Robbie Slinkman finished 1-2 with a double, while Kepler was 1-2 as well.  Webb finished 1-1 with an RBI and a run scored, and Jensen 1-2 with the double.

The loss dropped the Express to 6-15 on the season, and 4-12 in the Gopher League.
