Jackson Beats Express In 11(Jackson) – It went late into the night, but the Jackson Bulls beat the Tracy Express 7-6 in 11 innings on Wednesday night, and ended with a bit of drama.
The Express battled back from a 6-0 deficit, by scoring six runs in the 8th inning to force the game into extra innings.
Calvin Kosminskas started for the Express, he pitched through six innings, while Luke Walling threw three innings of relief, and Andy Lanoue was tagged with the loss in the 11th inning.
After scoring two runs in the first, fourth, and seventh innings, the Bulls had built a 6-0 lead, but the Express battled back by taking advantage of a couple of Bulls errors, and mixing it with a couple of timely doubles from Andrew Suby and Lanoue, each driving in two runs. The Express then pinch ran Eric Lanoue for Suby after the double, hoping to score and take the lead on a two out base hit, but they never got the hit, and the Express threat ended, with the go ahead run in scoring position.
After tying the game in the eighth, the pitching and defense then took over for both teams until the 11th. That’s when Jackson’s Kip Wachal led off by hitting a pop fly that fell in between Express outfielders; the Express then intentionally walked Blaise Jacobson t o pitch to Mike Wierson. Wierson bunted, and the Express made the play towards third, to attempt to get the lead runner on a force out. The ball beat the runner, but the base umpire ruled Kosminskas (who was playing third at the time was off the base). After a few tense moments of discussion, then Jackson’s John DeWall hit a sacrifice fly, to drive in the game winning run to get the Bulls the 7-6 victory.
Lanoue led the Express offensively, he was 2-5 with two RBI and a run scored. MacKinnon was also 2-5 for the Express as was Dane Jensen, who finished 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Tracy is off for the 4th of July weekend, they will play again on Wednesday, July 7th in Marshall against the A’s. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30.
