Express Take Down Canby

(Tracy) – The Tracy Express got back on track with an 8-3 win over Canby on Saturday in Tracy.  The Express put two runs up in the bottom of the first inning, and never looked back on their way to the f ive run win.

Tylan Gylling made his express debut on the mound.  Gylling, a Tyler native, worked five innings, giving up four hits, and one earned run in earning his first victory in an Express uniform.  Jason Minett closed out the game to pick up his first save.

The Express got going right away in the first inning, as Calvin Kosminskas drew a one out walk, and Dane Jensen singled, Aaron Ziemer drove them both in on an RBI single to put Tracy up 2-0.

Canby closed the Express lead to one in the second, but Tracy pushed it back to two in the third, as Kosminskas led the inning off with a double, Robbie Slinkman hit a hard line drive to right, which the Canby right fielder misplayed allowing Kosminskas to score from second and the Express to take a 3-1 lead.

After  Canby tied the game in the fifth, thanks in part to two Tracy errors, the Express got going in the bottom of the inning.  Jensen and Slinkman led off with a pair of one out hits.  Jensen scored when Tim Olson ground out to short, and Travis Apperson came through with a big two out base hit to drive in Slinkman and put the Express up 5-3.

Calvin Kosminskas threw well for the Express Fairmont Shuts Out Express

The Fairmont Martins and pitcher Ian Bents were too strong for the Tracy Express Wednesday night in Fairmont.  The Martins broke open a 1-0 game in the seventh and went on to a 6-0 win, on Wednesday night. Calvin Kosminskas threw well for the Express despite taking the loss.  Through six innings, Kosminskas had given up just one unearned run on three hits, in the game.  However in the seventh, fatigue began to set in, and he issued a lead off walk, which started the big inning for the Martins.  Troy Kepler finished off the 8th, and Casey Polzine pitched the ninth for the Express. Kosminskas pitched around trouble in the fourth after a lead off double from McGuire, he struck out the next two Martin hitters, and got Aaron Siefken to hit a lazy fly ball to left to end the threat.  He couldn’t do the same in the fifth though, Taylor Nawrocki led off when he reached on a Tracy error, he then stole second, and that’s when Bents helped his own caused as he singled to put runners on the corners.  Catcher Dustin Zellmer ground to short, scoring Nawrocki and the Martins had their 1-0 lead.

Tracy Takes Out The Irish

The Tracy Express defeated the Milroy Irish in a Gopher League game on Saturday afternoon.  The Express won 5-3 in the game in the game which was played in Tracy.

Eric Hendrickx threw another gem on the mound for the Express.  Hendrickx went the full nine innings without giving up an earned run, while striking out seven and walking just three.

Jason MacKinnon and Andrew Suby led the Express offense which got rolling in a major way, pounding out 13 hits on Irish starter Andy Ogdahl.

Tracy started the game on the right foot, as the Express broke out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.  Robbie Slinkman led the bottom of the first with a base hit.  Suby followed with a double, to drive in the first Express run.  MacKinnon followed that up with a single, and Bryan Francis  drove in Suby with a single to left.  Tracy followed that up with a single by Hendrickx to score MacKinnon.

Wilmont Rallies From Behind Again To Beat Express

The Tracy Express lost for a second time to this season to the Wilmont Cardinals in comeback fashion on Sunday in Tracy. The Cardinals used a six run seventh inning, to steal a 9-6 win in the Gopher League. 

Tracy opened up the scoring in the third inning, with three runs.  Left fielder Troy Kepler led off the inning with a base hit, after stealing second, Kepler scored on a base hit from Bryan Francis who continues to swing a hot bat for the Express. 

Francis finished the afternoon 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
 The Express kept the inning alive though, as Andy Lanoue scored when the Cardinals third baseman committed an error, and Travis Apperson singled to drive home Francis, to put the Express up 3-0. 

Luke Walling kept Wilmont in check, allowing one run through his first six innings, while scattering four hits, and striking out five.   

After Wilmont cut the Express lead to 3-1, Andy Lanoue led off the 5th with a double.  He advanced to third on a ground out to second from Francis, and scored on a wild pitch to extend the Express lead back to three.
